Subtitles
Add automatic subtitles to a video
Use CutCaption AI generation to create timed captions from uploaded video audio.

Before you upload
Automatic subtitles work best when the uploaded video has clear speech and a normal audio track. If the audio is extremely quiet, distorted, or mixed under music, expect to spend more time correcting the transcript.
- Use the uploader warnings for current duration and format limits.
- Trim very long source files before uploading if you only need one clip.
- Keep a local copy of the original video until your final export is approved.
Generate captions
- Open Studio and select Create Project.
- Choose AI Generation.
- Upload your video file.
- Review the project title and submit the upload.
- Wait for upload, media preparation, and transcription to complete.
- Open the project and review the generated subtitles in the editor.
After generation
AI captions are a first draft. Review proper nouns, punctuation, speaker-specific wording, and fast sections before exporting.
