Translate subtitles

How translation works

Translation starts from the current saved caption text. CutCaption creates a translated subtitle state that you can review, load, edit, and export separately from the source language.

Translation is available on paid plans and spends processing minutes at half the video length per target language. The translate dialog shows the exact cost before you confirm.

Machine translation can miss context, tone, names, and cultural references. Treat it as a draft that still needs human review.

Create a translation

1. Open a project in Studio or the editor.
2. Use the Translate action.
3. Choose the target language from the available language list.
4. Confirm the translation request.
5. Wait for the translation to finish.
6. Open the translated subtitle state, review it, and save any edits.

Review translated captions

• Check names, brand terms, idioms, and numbers.
• Play fast sections to make sure translated text still fits the timing.
• Adjust line breaks if translated lines are longer than the source.
• Export the translated state only after previewing it with the final style.
