Current import path

Use My Own Subtitles when you already have timed captions and want CutCaption to use them as the starting transcript.

SRT and VTT are the supported import formats for the manual subtitle-file path. ASS is the advanced styling and render/export format used after editing in CutCaption.

Import a subtitle file

  1. Open Studio and select Create Project.
  2. Choose My Own Subtitles.
  3. Upload the source video.
  4. Add the subtitle file when prompted by the uploader.
  5. Submit the project and open it when processing finishes.
  6. Review line breaks, timing, and any formatting that may not carry over from the source file.

Format notes

  • SRT is best for simple timed text.
  • VTT is useful when captions came from web video tooling.
  • ASS is best for advanced styling, preview, and final render parity after the project is in CutCaption.
  • Imported files may not preserve every external editor feature. Check the preview before export.
