Video uploads

CutCaption is built for common video uploads such as MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI, and M4V. The uploader and backend validation are the final source of truth for whether a specific file can be accepted.

  • If upload fails, try an H.264 MP4 export from your video editor.
  • Follow any duration, size, or balance warning shown in the upload flow.
  • Avoid unusual codecs when you need the fastest path to a finished export.

Subtitle files

CutCaption can export subtitle files for common caption workflows and uses ASS for advanced styling and hardcoded render parity.

  • SRT: simple timed captions.
  • VTT: web video captions.
  • ASS: advanced subtitle styling and render source (downloads available on Creator and higher plans).
  • TXT: plain transcript download when available from the editor export menu.

Hardcoded video export

Hardcoded export renders the approved subtitle state into a video file. The available resolution, watermark behavior, and export permissions depend on the current plan and billing state shown in the app.
