Create karaoke-style captions
Use word-timed caption effects when subtitles should highlight speech as it happens.

Before using karaoke effects
Karaoke-style effects need useful word timing. Projects created with automatic subtitles are the most likely to have word-level timing available. Imported subtitle files may have only line-level timing.
Enable karaoke mode
- Open the project in the editor.
- Open the global style controls.
- Find the karaoke or active-word controls.
- Choose a karaoke mode such as sweep, instant, word flash, word build, or word style if available for the project.
- Adjust active-word colors, outline, shadow, or background.
- Preview several captions before exporting.
Quality check
- If highlights feel late or early, review the caption timing first.
- If a project has no word timing, use simpler line styling instead.
- Avoid overly busy effects when captions are already dense.
- Download or export only after previewing the exact saved caption state.
